Set of US Civil War Officer's Sword Belt Equipment with period tag stating it was captured at Chickamauga. Sword belt with fine quality M1851 officer's rectangular eagle plate with medium width tongue. Leather sword pad with very heavy rectangular brass suspension ring with equally heavy brass suspension hook. No sword slings. Cap box and flap holster. The entire set is in very good sound untouched condition, including closure tab on holster. Finish with some scattered crazing on belt but no flaking on any pieces. Accompanied by a partial 2" X 3 1/2" period ink script heavy paper tag which bears the legend, "U. S. Cavalry Pist(ol)....and Holster From Chickam(auga)....Captured". Obviously not a cavalry set, although possibly used as such by the Confederate soldier it was captured from. Interesting Confederate use of captured US equipment with great history.
