DescriptionA Texas Related Powder Horn and Powder Flask. Comprising: 1.) Approximately 6 ½-inch horn with wooden base. Carved on one side: "Sgt. John Marr / 1853 / Texas Volunteers"; and carved on the other with an eagle over a five-pointed star with the caption "Texas Forever". The horn is attributed to John Wesley Marr (1830-1909) but further research is necessary. 2.) Copper powder flask measuring approximately 6 ¾-inches tall with slightly offset five-pointed stars embossed on either side. No maker markings. Loading spring still functions. Stars may indicate an association with the Republic of Texas. Further research needed.
Condition: 1.) Very good. A minor hairline crack pierces the eagle's head. 2.) Good. A few shallow dents. Lacking one lanyard ring.
