    Civil War US Issue .58 Caliber Cartridge Box and Sling with both plates by rare maker. Totally untouched, box excellent with original tins. Exterior excellent with some very light crazing and a small area of flaking on the top of the flap. Oval US plate retains much of the original gilt. Interior near perfect with the exception of flaking on the tool pouch flap. Very long latch tab with conical brass finial. Nicely marked in rectangular cartouche on inside flap, "J. B. Sickles & Co. / St. Louis, Mo.". Original 2 1/8" wide sling with original eagle breast plate with dark untouched patina. Sling is as sound as new although exhibiting considerable surface flaking. A very nice untouched Civil War cartridge box set exhibiting several unusual details.
