Wells, Fargo & Company: Colorful Freight Scale. This "Howe" cast iron scale no doubt weighed many a parcel in its time. It measures 13" across, 18" deep and 22" in height. It is painted red with gold trim and flourishes. The two sides of the base have silver & black decal lettering reading: "Wells, Fargo & Co. Express". It has a "State of Washington Department of Weights" certification sticker on the main column dated 1919. To the best of our knowledge, it was manufactured circa 1914. The column has a "Howe Trademark" sticker and raised letters reading "Howe" on front and back. It has "good character" and is quite heavy. We cannot say for sure exactly how heavy... it is the only scale we've got!
