Cast Iron Mechanical Banks (Two): Artillery Bank and Hubley Pull Tail Elephant. As follows: (1)This variant of the Artillery Bank, made by the J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, Connecticut Circa 1895, shows a Confederate soldier in grey kepi and grey trousers standing at the ready to signal the cannon to fire and shoot the coin into the tower. This example is in excellent condition with most of its original paint showing only minor wear. The patent date of 1892 appears on the bottom but the closure to the coin vault is missing. 8" L.; and (2) Made by Hubley in the 1930s, this attractive example works by placing the coin in the trunk, pulling the tail, causing the trunk to move and drop the coin in the front of the Howdah. The paint is all original and does show wear and chips in spots. A nice example in great condition. 8" x 9" from trunk to tail.
