    Description

Bulldog Mechanical Bank patent dated April 8th, 1880 and manufactured by the J. and E. Stevens Co. The design of this bank is attributed to James H. Bowen, who cleverly made the dog to hold the coin on his nose and when his tail is tripped, drop the coin into his mouth. The dog has impressive glass eyes and looks a little protective of his blue blanket and perhaps his owners coins. The base is clean with only the plug that closes the trap replaced. The paint and patina is very good to excellent. This bank's appearance certainly makes the statement that your money is well guarded.
