    Description

Scaup Duck Audubon Royal Octavo Print. Plate number 397, the Scaup Duck, shows a male and female of the species as they playfully court each other on the shore of a lake, and a friendly snail looks on in approval. This type of diving duck is beautifully marked, and is made even more unique by the presence of its blueish bill. Comes complete with two pages of facts and observations from Audubon's exhaustive edition. Oriented horizontally, it appears to have been trimmed slightly due to the missing holes that are usually present on prints that have been disbound. Small stain on the upper edge in the center, not affecting the picture.
