    Mark Catesby. Two Fish Prints. Two hand-colored copper engravings from The Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands (London: 1731-1743). Both generally very good.

    More Information:

    Mark Catesby (1682-1749). This lot includes: Perca/The Croker and Perca rubra/The Squirrel. Paper lightly toned; edges browning. Two three-inch bands of faint offsetting run the full length across the top and bottom of the sheet, intruding past the platemark. A couple of shallow bends at top right corner. Bottom of sheet shows binding edge. [and:] Perca rhomboidalis/Pork Fish and Perca Piunis/The Schoolmaster. Paper lightly toned; edges browning. Light foxing, some inside image area. Shallow bends at top corners. Short tear to top edge. Bottom of sheet shows binding edge. Both prints are on watermarked laid paper, and both prints have light penciled notations. Both measure approximately 20.5 x 14 inches.
