    Description

Lot of 7 Antique Photographic Portraits of Eminent 19th Century Englishmen. From Men of Mark: A Gallery of Contemporary Portraits of Men Distinguished in the Senate, the Church, in Science, Literature, and Art, the Army, Navy, Law, Medicine, etc. with biographical sketches by Thompson Cooper, photographed from life by Lock and Whitfield, London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, and Rivington, 1881. Each of the plates measure 8.25 x 11 inches. Each oval photographic portrait is mounted to a printed page and is accompanied by a single page biographical sketch. The backing sheets have light areas of scattered foxing but the portraits are sharp and in beautiful condition. Their uniform size and attractiveness would make them ideal candidates for framing to enhance the décor of any home, office, business or school. Portraits include Sir William G. Armstrong, George Frederick Watts, Sir George Elvey, Samuel Morley, Sir Daniel Lysons, George Denman, and Philip H. Calderon.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
