    John James Audubon (1785-1851). One Antelope and Five Deer Prints (Octavo Edition).

     

    Six hand-colored lithographs from the octavo edition of The Quadrupeds of North America (New York and Philadelphia), including:  Prong Horned Antelope, Plate LXXVII. [and:] Black-Tailed Deer, Plate LXXVIII. [and:] Columbian Black-Tailed Deer, Plate CVI. [and:] Long-tailed Deer, Plate CXVIII. [and:] Caribou or American Rein Deer, Plate CXXVI. [and:] Common or Virginian Deer, Plate CXXXVI. All in very good condition, with light toning and foxing, mounting tape to reverse (note, the Antelope print does not have tape on the back). The Antelope has a very tiny portion of the upper left corner and upper right corners torn away and a tear along the upper right-hand side; and the Black-Tailed Deer has a crease on the bottom left corner. All have light penciled notations. All measure 10.5 x 6.75 inches.
