A lot of eight beautiful copper-engraved plates depicting various surviving ancient Roman baths including seven of de Philippe, three of de Diocletien, d' Grippa, de Paul, and two of de Tite.

    From Les Restes de l'Ancienne Rome, Recherchez avec soin, mesurez, deffinez fur les lieux, & gravez par feu Bonaventure D'Overbeke, Sous les Pontificats D'Innocent XI, D'Alexandre VIII, & D'Innocent XII. Imprimé aux dépens De Michel D'Overbeke, Volume II, The Hague: Pierre Gosse Junior & Daniel Pinet, 1763. A later edition, in French completed by his nephew, Michel.

     

    A lot of eight beautiful copper-engraved plates depicting various surviving ancient Roman baths including seven of de Philippe, three of de Diocletien, d' Grippa, de Paul, and two of de Tite. Each engraved plate is accompanied by the original page of French text describing each site in detail. Each illustration is in fine condition and perfect for framing to enhance the décor of any home, school, or office.
