Lot of 9 Vintage Tables Featuring California Geological Plans. From Reports of Explorations and Surveys, to Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route For a Railroad From the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean, Made Under the Direction of the Secretary of War, in 1853-4, Washington: Beverley Tucker, Printer, 1856-57 [and] Report of Explorations in California for Railroad Routes, to Connect With the Routes Near the 35th and 32nd Parallels of North Latitude by Lieutenant R. S. Williamson, 1853, from a exploration and survey from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean commissioned by the War Department. Each fold-out plan varies in size from about 13.5 x 20 inches to 15 x 25 inches. These tables, taken from the original government report, feature geological data relative to California. A few of the plans are hand-colored. The plates are in generally good condition with light to moderate scattered foxing, some toning, an occasional closed tear, and wear at the extremities. These illustrations, once framed, would make a perfect addition to any school, office or home décor.
