    John Doyle (aka H.B.). Five Prints of Political Satire. Five lithographs, colored by hand, printed in London by T. McLean, ca. 1829. Two of the five prints have been folded several times. Otherwise, all are in very good to fine condition.

    More Information:

    John Doyle (1797-1868) was an Irish artist who anonymously produced a large number of these Political Sketches, signing them "H.B." (He was also, incidentally, the grandfather of Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes.) Prints in this series: The Apparition. 1829. [and:] The Battle of the Pamphleteers, or Newark versus Newcastle. Folded three times, resulting in eight compartments in the sheet. [and:] A Courier from France. Folded three times, resulting in eight compartments in the sheet. [and:] Repose. 1829. [and:] A Nocturnal Reverie. 1830.
