George Washington: 1817 Calligraphic Engraving. This 24" x 18.5" engraving reproduces a calligraphic work of art accomplished by "Benjamin O. Tyler. Professor of Penmanship, New York, 1817." It was engraved by P. Maverick of Newark, New Jersey. It has cherubs, angels blowing trumpets of fame, eagles, an elegiac poem and Masonic symbols. It is titled: "Eulogium: Sacred to the Memory of the Illustrious George Washington, Columbia's Greatest and Successful Son: honored Be His Name." There are two border tears and one piece of a corner missing. Overall, it's quite nice and something we have not seen before. In an age before typewriters and computers, calligraphy and good penmanship were highly valued skills.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
