    George Edwards (1694-1773). Four Water Bird Prints, From Two Sources.

     

    One hand-colored engraving from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds, and of some other Rare and Undescribed Animals, Quadrupeds, Reptiles, Fishes, Insects, &c. (London: 1743-51), including: [The hooping-crane from Hudson's-Bay], Page [Plate] 132. Good condition, with overall dark tone to sheet, tears on the binding edge, a few small tears on the left edge, and minor foxing. Light penciled notations. Measures 9 x 11 inches.

     

    Three hand-colored engravings from John Wilkes' Encyclopaedia Londinensis (London: 1796-1828), including: Anas, Whistling Swan, Plate I. [and:] Pelecanus, Rough billed Pelican, Man of War Bird, Spotted Shag, Booby, Plate II. [and:] Alca, The Puffin and Razor Bill. All in very good condition with toning along the edges and very minor foxing. Light penciled notations. All measure 8.5 x 10.5 inches.
