    Description

Frederic De Wit Map of the World, " NOVA ORBIS TABVLA IN LVCEM EDITA", 22.25" x 19.0", circa 1680, Amsterdam. Both hemispheres and the poles are depicted in this fine example of hand-colored Dutch engraving. Interestingly, De Wit still depicts California as an island when other cartographers were regarding it as part of the North American mainland. Each corner of this map carries a large tableaux representing one of the four seasons. Only very light browning with minimal fold creasing. Fine condition. In modern gilt wood frame, 29.0" x 32.0".

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
