    Description

Currier & Ives Yachting Print. "The Celebrated Yacht 'America.' Winner of the 'Queen's Cup.' Value 100 Guineas. In the Royal Yacht Squadron Match for all Nations at Cowes, England, Aug. 22, 1851." Yachting competitions were quite popular in the post-Civil War years and America won many of the contest. This 13" x 16" mounted, hand-colored print likely dates from around 1870, even though the race took place in 1851. It has nice wide borders and is quite clean.
