    Abraham Lincoln: Life-Size Bronze Bust by Bissell, Cast by Henry Bonnard. American sculptor Edwin George Bissell (1839-1920) served with the 23rd Connecticut Infantry during the Civil War, after which he was appointed a paymaster in the Navy. After mustering out, he joined his father's marble business in Poughkeepsie, New York and worked on life-sized statues. This majestic work is 25" tall, 14" wide and 11" deep. It is signed "E. Geo. Bissell" on the edge of Lincoln's right shoulder. It is also stamped, at the base, "The Henry Bonnard Bronze Co. Founders N.Y. 1899". The bust rests on a tombstone-shaped base and socle. Great detail wih wonderful patina. An outstanding work!
