    Description

Cabinet Card of "Piebald" Subjects A fascinating cabinet card showing four people: a woman and three children who all bear the patchy black & white skin condition known as "piebald." The hair on the subjects' heads has been bleached white and teased up in the tradition of sideshow "piebaldness." The subjects are joined in the background by a tall black man who does not have the condition and is most likely the manager, husband, or perhaps both. With Wendt, Boonton, New Jersey imprint on mount, quite nice.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
