Photo Album of Mary Susie Davenport, Boston, 1881 A large collection of photographs housed in an ornate photo album, 5.5" x 6.5", bound in wood boards covered in fabric containing 38 photographs including CDVs, tintypes, and several un-mounted photographs of a middle-class black family living in Massachusetts in the late nineteenth century. Most of the tintypes are 1/6th plate with one loose 1/2 plate portrait and a few 1/9th plate examples. The images consist of men, women and children all apparently part of the same family. The front flyleaf (detached) bears a hand-written description "Mary Susie Davenport Dec 25, 1881 Boston Mass from Mr. R. B. G." Binding of album still somewhat intact, though boards are detached, portions of the fabric covering binding lost, many photo mounts have been broken. The photos themselves are mostly in very good condition save for the occasional bent tintype and other minor faults. An impressive collection of portraits that document the lives of one family.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
