    Description

    Kentucky Slavery Autograph Letter Signed "S.J. Henry". One page, 7.5" x 10.0", April 29, 1861, Henrysville, Kentucky with cover addressed to S.T. Short, Bremen, Kentucky. This letter, requesting a new bill of sale, partially reads "...he sold the niggro for $800 .00 dollars & I have taking (sic) out the expenses that the girl has bin (sic) to since she left your house...he fild (sic) up the Bill of Sail (sic) Rong (sic)...". Moderate ink stains, small area of paper loss to left margin, three small splits not affecting manuscript. Good condition. Included is an unsigned manuscript invoice, one page, 7.75" x 6.5", 1860. This document details the expenses S.T. Short incurred while trying sell one of S.J. Henry's female slaves. $5 of the total $36 due were for " ...trying to sell the girl...". Light browning and folds, Fine condition. All items are mounted in a 15.5" x 18.5" frame. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
