    Description

Eleven 'Slice of Life ' Stereoviews A collection of eleven (11) stereoviews showing various facets of the black experience. Includes two excellent images of a Midwestern prison, one showing black and white prisoners in front of their cells and another being an outdoor view of what is most likely the same prison with two black prisoners in the foreground working on a road, M. M. Mott, Anamosa, Iowa credit on verso. Also, a set of three Underwood images with captions at the bottom including a view the Mississippi levee at St. Louis showing black and white longshoreman, a black woman shipping at a fabric store, and a view of black children of miners photographing William McKinley. A comical scene bears the caption: "Well 'Rastus, if I don't se you no moah, de Mule's Your'n." A stereo by T. W. Ingersoll, St. Paul, Minnesota, shows a group of Caribbean cane grinders. Also includes three images of statuary including an image of Lincoln emancipating a slave by Edwin Peabody, Salem, Massachusetts (dampstains). Also of interest is a view of the "Uncle Tom's Cabin" booth at the 1873 Detroit Author's Carnival. A fun group.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
