    1839 LAST WILL FREEING SLAVES IN MARYLAND. The Last Will and TEstament of Jehu McAllister of Baltimore Co., Maryland, 1839, 3 pages, 13.5" x 8",Very Fine.  McAllister bequeaths to his heirs his estate called Derbyshire, and names seven slaves, ordering that all of the slave and their children be freed after a specific perod of time.  In part:  "I...bequeath unto my grand negro girl Harriet until the first day January Eighteen hundred and fifty seven, at which time the said Harriet shall be free...I do further request that my two negro women viz:  Nelly with her infant boy, and Clara may be free and released from slavery but my negro boy Joshua and my 4 negro girls named Susan, Fanny, Rosa and Sarah Ann, may be disposed of by my Executor to such person or persons as he may think proper until the following years, viz, Susan until the first day of January 1847, Joshua...1855, Fanny...1855, Rosa...1857, Sarah Ann...1860...any issue my female slaves may have during the respective periods of the servitude shall be free at twenty five years of age..."  Light toning and soiling.  Clearly and neatly written.
