    This lot contains primarily early programs related to shows with Black performers, how-to booklets, and minstrel material. Includes: 1894 program for Alexander & Comstock’s Minstrels at St. James’ Hall, small format programs for Keith’s Boston, Hammerstein’s Roof Garden, and the New E. F. Albee (cover detached), large programs for Hammerstein’s Victoria and the New York Theatre and Roof Garden, early pulp "Actors’ Joke Book" and "Fun in Black; or Sketches of Minstrel Life" (both with serious faults), small Howard Athenaeum program for The Royal Minstrels and Sanford & Wilson (edge wear), three-page handwritten theatrical resume signed MAJOR BURK listing his engagements as a minstrel performer from 1860 to 1890 (dated 1915 on "Major Burk–Sensation Militaire" letterhead), colorful "Popular Dutch, Irish & Negro Sketch Book" from the 1870s, a mounted cover for a May Irwin coon song, and an 11 x 16 1/2" pulp paper minstrel show poster from 1915 ("When the agony is over Dancing Begins.")
