Lot of Seven Assorted Military or Indian Related Photographs. Comprising: 1) Small deckled edge albumen portrait photo of two brothers in military uniforms. Reverse inscribed: "For Mamma"/Jan. 1st, 1893. Size: 3 1/2-inches X 4 1/4-inches. 2) Small albumen photo of a young man on horseback. Reverse inscribed: B.V. Cal C.R. Bates. Size: 5 1/2-inches X 5 1/4-inches. 3) Albumen bust portrait of an unidentified Army officer. Size: 4-inches X 4 1/4-inches. 4) Albumen cabinet studio photo of a young man in military uniform with musket and bayonet. Photographer is Gilmartin, St. Paul, Minnesota. Size: 4-inches X 6 1/2-inches. 5) Large albumen cabinet photo of a U.S. Navy officer with sword. Photographer is Rice, Washington, D.C. Reverse inscribed: James W. Carlin/Lieutenant U.S. Navy/Jany 1890. Size: 5 1/8-inches X 8 3/8-inches. 6) Framed early gelatin print of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, mounted on Traveler. The classic image. Framed under glass in a black enameled frame. Size:6 1/2-inches X 7 3/4-inches. 7) Mounted black & white photo print of Indian Chief, Afraid of Eagle. Showing subject in feather bonnet. Legend at bottom of photo reads: Copyright 1898/F.A. Rinehart. Rinehart was commissioned to photograph the 1898 Indian Congress part of the Trans-Mississippi International Exposition. More than 500 Native Americans from 35 tribes attended the conference. Rinehart used this venue to capture the details of Afraid of Eagle and other Indians. Size: 8-inches X 10-inches.Auction Info
