Lot of 10 Assorted Civil War Officer's Spurs. Comprising: 1) Pair of excavated ornate Union officer's spurs. 2) Another pair of excavated Union officer's spurs with fluted bands and raised floral ornamentation. Sold together with letter of provenance stating these spurs were excavated in Sherman's camp, two miles west of the Shiloh. They were excavated by Joe Mills, one of the first relic hunters of the area. They are depicted in the book, Civil War Relics of the Western Campaigns 1861-1865, by Charles Harris, page 40. 3) Pair of brass U.S. Model 1859 "McClellan" spurs. 4) Mis-matched pair of brass cavalry spurs. 5) Pair of unmarked Union iron cavalry spurs. Condition: Pairs 1, 2 and 5 are relics with heavy losses to rowels. Pairs 3 and 4 show wear and age patina.
