    Description

    Abraham Munting (1626-1683). Three Botanical Prints. Three hand colored copper engravings on laid paper from Munting's Phytographia Curiosa (Leiden and Utrecht: 1702). All are in generally very good condition.

    More Information:

    From Munting's Phytographia Curiosa, the first Latin edition of his 1696 work Naauwkeurige Beschryving Aardgewassen (Leiden and Utrecht: 1702), including: Astrantia Alpina. [and:] Myrtus Bœtica Pumila Latifolia. [and:] Acer Platanoides. The latter two prints are printed on a noticeably more lightweight stock. All are in generally very good condition with minor toning and very occasional foxing. A couple of tiny wormholes are present at the margin, outside the platemark. Mild browning to edges of Astrantia Alpina. Light creases and a couple of very short tears to the edges of the Myrtus print. All have light penciled notations. All measure approximately 10 x 15.25 inches.
