    Description

Abraham Lincoln: Norman Rockwell Signed Print. 16 1/4" x 30 1/4" [sight] 15-color lithograph, handsomely double-matted and framed to an overall size of 29" x 44". It depicts a youthful Abraham Lincoln reading a book while carrying an axe with the family log cabin in the distance. It is signed by the artist in pencil in the lower border, "A/P Norman Rockwell". It is an artist's proof, one of thirty-five produced. It is based on a painting done by Rockwell in 1964, commissioned by the Lincoln Mutual Savings Bank of Spokane. An edition of 260 copies in total were pulled in 1976, printed on papier d'Arches. This example is accompanied by the original portfolio holder and, as a bonus, we include an 8" x 10" glossy signed by Rockwell showing him at work in his studio on this portrait.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
