Yale Club of New York Cigar Label. A printed 10" x 6" inner label with a simple design: a blue monotone image of the famous Yale Club with cars parked at the curb and blue and gold "Y" banners on either side. This is the current club located at 50 Vanderbilt Avenue in midtown Manhattan. The first club was founded in 1897 in a rented brownstone at 17 East 26th. The next location was a 12-story building built in 1901 at 30 West 44th. The current 23-story clubhouse pictured here was designed by architect James Gamble Rogers (a Yale alumnus, of course) and opened in 1915 as the largest college clubhouse in the world (it still is). There are currently 10,000 members, 140 guestrooms, and three restaurants. There have been an amazing group of famous and talented people pass through this building in its nearly 90-year history. A "must-have" for any Yale alumnus. Excellent condition with just slight handling.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
