The Invincible Schley 1898 Sample Cigar Label by Schmidt & Co. of New York. A lithographed naval-theme 7.5" x 6" inner label picturing "Com. Winfield Scott Schley" in full uniform with the sea and his ships in the background. U.S. and Cuban shields, oak leaves, a sword, an anchor, and the stars and stripes are all incorporated into the decorative gold-embossed border. Schley had a long and distinguished career in the service of the U.S. Navy and was a popular hero of the Spanish-American War for his sinking of the Spanish Squadron. He was awarded the rank of admiral in 1899, and he retired in 1901. A 1901 naval court of inquiry (convened at his request) praised his role in the Battle of Santiago de Cuba, but criticized him for various mistakes he made in the battle situation and for disobedience to a dispatch. Prices and ordering information are found near the bottom margin of this sample label. Near mint condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
