    Chief Jumping Bear, a.k.a. Chief John Grass: An Original D.F. Barry Photo. In original mount impressed with "Barry", the photo itself is impressed "Copyright by D.F. Barry". A wonderful image in near-mint condition. Photo opening measures 4.375" x 6.25".

    In the bio on verso, Barry lauds the Chief as "The Great Sioux Orator" and all in all, "a fine Indian character". A "progressive Indian", he and Chief Gall were the two judges of the Indian court at Standing Rock agency in the 1880's when Barry was a frequent visitor.
