DescriptionCarl Moon: A Superb, Giant Hand-colored 12" x 16.5" Photo by One of the Top Turn-of-the-Century Photographers of Native Americans. This elegant image, identified on verso as "Standing Elk", is incorporated into an original framed display made for promotional use by the Santa Fe Railway. Signed by Moon, with his imprint on lower left-hand corner. The subject is dressed in Northern Plains attire, but Moon's models were typically Northern Pueblo or Apache. Undoubtedly the man is dressed in props from Moon's studio (he had an extensive collection of Native American items). This arresting photo should hold great appeal for collectors of Native American photography, antique advertising, and railroad memorabilia alike. Excellent condition, with minor edge chips on frame. 22" x 28" as framed, with great display appearance.
