    Description

Advertising: Three Baseball Theme Coca Cola Posters. Three identical 30" x 50" double-sided cardboard posters for Coca-Cola. These colorful posters likely date circa 1950 and were meant to be suspended in a store or mounted in a two-sided spring frame, for outdoor display. The posters are printed on paper which have been affixed to a cardboard core. One side depicts a young lady spectator conversing over a Coke with a baseball player and his manager. The other side shows a couple of skiers about to drink some Coke. All three posters have moisture damage from improper storage. Most of this damage is confined to the lower extremities, with concomitant peeling or loss. They remain quite colorful and are no doubt rare examples of Coca-Cola marketing efforts. Perhaps they could be restored, but a simple framing under two sheets of Plexiglas comes to mind as a viable option for display.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
