    Large Clipper Ship Andrew Jackson Card "Extra", c 1861. 6 1/4" x 9 1/2" (sight) framed to an overall size of 12" x 15 1/4". Extra Notice. For San Francisco. Only 35 cts. per cubic foot on the Fastest Ship in the World. The Clipper Ship Andrew Jackson. New York: Printed by Nesbit & Co, December 16th, 1861. Between December 25, 1859 and March 23, 1860, the Andrew Jackson made the passage from New York City to San Francisco, a journey that took approximately 89 days, becoming one of only two ships to make the journey at that speed. The Jackson recorded a time 4 hours faster than the Flying Cloud, and claimed it was the fastest ship in the world. The same image is on a sailing card printed by Nesbitt in 1862. This handbill if much more difficult to source, and far larger than the standard clipper ship card. In excellent condition with great graphics and bold colors.
