    J. I. Case Threshing Company: Cast Iron Statue of "Old Abe". The J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company was founded in 1844 and is famous for producing tractors and other heavy duty farm machinery. In 1865, they adopted "Old Abe" as their company logo. "Old Abe, the War Eagle" was the mascot of the 8th Regiment Wisconsin Infantry, having been purchased for $21 early in the war. He was named after the Commander-in-Chief, Abraham Lincoln. He appeared in patriotic parades and accompanied the regiment into 38 battles and skirmishes. His wild, piercing cry was recognized by combatants on both sides. His image appeared on cartes-de-visite and lapel badges issued during the war. He last appeared at a veteran's reunion held in Milwaukee in 1880, sharing the platform with General Grant. This cast iron statue stands approximately 57" tall and is 21" wide. It shows "Old Abe" perched atop the globe which is inscribed in bold letters "CASE". It stood in front of a Case dealership for many years and was likely produced in the early part of the 20th century. It has been repainted in the original factory colors. Aside from some normal nicks and scrapes in the paint, it is in excellent condition. It is available for pick-up in Dallas or can be transported via a Third Party Shipper.
