    Description

Impressive Grouping of Early Firemen's Badges. Nothing can compare to the elaborate and colorful novelty badges distributed in the early 1900s for reunions and events. Here we have 12 badges with celluloid and ribbon attachments that were given to those participating in a convention in East Stroudsburg, PA. Distributed by the Acme Hose Co., many of these badges picture the fire engines or firemen themselves and date from 1897 to 1914. They are in a variety of sizes but all have been well kept and remain in nearly pristine condition. Here is a chance for a collector to add a wonderful grouping to his collection, or for a beginning collector to start with the best.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
