    Description

Farm Machinery: "Salesman's Sample" Storefront Model Windmill. 37" high, 23" diameter brass fan, mounted on a 11.5" cast iron base. The fin is inscribed "Stover Mfg. Co. Freeport ILL. U.S.A." on one side and "Samson" [the model] on the other. Crafted from all metal parts. The fan rotates freely. The superstructure also rotates, but may not be connected to the gears. There is currently a small section of wire in place, of unknown purpose, but it may need a fan belt so the components move in sync with one another. Most unusual and a real conversation piece!

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
