Judaica
The Oxford English Dictionary defines "Judaica" as: "Items or (less commonly) matters relating to or associated with Judaism or Jewish culture, especially those forming part of a collection or treated as subjects of study." Random House defines it as: "Things pertaining to Jewish life and customs, especially when of a historical, literary, or artistic nature, as books or ritual objects." Using either definition, Heritage Auctions has had the privilege of offering thousands of such items documenting nearly 2500 years of the history of the Jewish people through their coinage, their literature, and their art. In 2012, Heritage was chosen to offer the landmark Shoshana Collection of Ancient Judean Coins ( HA.com/3003 ) ( HA.com/3018 ). Prices realized for the two auctions alone totaled $9.1 million.
