Description
Apollo 15 Crew-Signed Launch Cover [with] Color Photo. A philatelic cover with an 8¢ "American Revolution Bicentennial" stamp affixed bearing a pictorial machine cancelation from Kennedy Space Center dated July 26, 1971, the day that Apollo 15 was launched. The cover style is identical to those used for the (in)famous "Sieger" covers. Signed neatly around the bottom of the mission insignia in bold black felt tip: "Dave Scott", "Al Worden", and "Jim Irwin". Included, for purposes of display or matting, is a glossy 10" x 8" color print of the crew posed in white spacesuits. Original printed "First Lunar Roving Vehicle" stiffener card included. Excellent.Apollo 15 marked the first of the so-called "J missions," with longer stays on the lunar surface and greater emphasis on science. Scott and Irwin spent nearly three days on the Moon, completing three EVAs and driving the Lunar Rover more than 17 miles, while Worden conducted orbital science and a deep-space EVA during the return journey.
