Description
Bavarian Official's Court Sword Made by Cark Eickhorn, circa 1890. Narrow, double-edge Eickhorn manufactured 31¾" blade with ornately etched panels on both sides set off against a blued background. The etchings feature patriotic vignettes and floral decoration. Bavaria's "In Treue Fest" motto appears in one of the panels. Three panels on each side are accented in gold. The brass hilt retains most of the original gilt with a reclining lion on the counter guard which utilizes lion head finials. Lion head pommel, mother of pearl plaque grips with brass crown/sunburst on the obverse. The reverse panel is loose and needs securing. The black leather scabbard has unadorned brass mounts and displays some tender areas. This handsome sword also retains the majority of the original red velvet washer and ornate gilt bullion sword knot decorated with a crown motif.Auction Info
