Description

Revolutionary War Receipts (3) for Arms Dated July 1776. Includes:

1) A receipt (8.5" x 4") for arms issued during the month of July 1776, including three scabbards for bayonets, two leather belts, one cartridge box, etc. The items were issued over 3 days during the month and the receipt is signed by Israel Seymour. Seymour dates his signature July 13, 1777, but a docket on the verso indicates payment was made in December 1776, so it is possible that Seymour has written the wrong year.

2) A receipt (8.5" x 2.75") dated July 29, 1776, issued to John Griffing, a Selectman for the town of Lyme for "Two good fire arms & Baynets [sic] + three Catouch [sic] box... for the use of my Compy... Elijah Bingham Cap'n."

3) A receipt (7.75" x 4") issued in Hartford on July 31, 1776 issued to Joseph Church, town Selectman, for "one firelock Bayonet Belt & Scabbard."

Condition: All three items have flattened folds, and toning with light staining.
