Description

Frances Cleveland: A Large Ceramic Meat Platter Featuring Grover Cleveland's First Lady. This item was distributed by the makers of Sparks Perfect Health as an advertising novelty in the late 1880s. Manufactured by: "Robt. H. Payne, Porcelain Show Cards, Camden, N.J.". This item is typically found with fading and wear to the central image, but this example is as strong and bold as any we have seen. There is some light surface crazing and spotting, as well a few fine utensil scratches. A ½" chip at one corner could be easily restored. Overall very presentable for display. 11" x 15". From the Edward C. Gillette Collection.
