Description

Harry S Truman: Infamous "Dewey Defeats Truman" Newspaper. The most famous "error" newspaper of all time, the November 3, 1948 edition of the Chicago Daily Tribune, announcing in a banner headline "Dewey Defeats Truman." Truman must have been saying, "How sweet it is!" when he publicly mocked the newspaper's publisher, who had been a thorn in his side during his entire presidency. Measured while horizontally folded across the center, the size is 16.75" x 12.875. Light toning is present, minor loss, with some minor tearing at the right and left edges. In overall fine condition. No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.
