Jefferson Davis: Frederick Volck Plaster Bust. 9.5" tall plaster bust of "Jefferson Davis." Signed on one side "F. Volck". Original light beige finish with some chipping to back side and wear to the finish in the body of the work. Frederick Volck of Richmond was the younger brother of Adelbert Volck of Baltimore, engraver of a series of anti-Lincoln caricatures, suppressed during the war. This bust was made circa 1862-1863 and served as the basis for the Confederate postage stamp that bears Davis's likeness. No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.
