Description

Exceptional Cased Colt Model 1862 New Model Police Revolver
Serial number 40859. .36 caliber, 5-shot semi-fluted and rebated cylinder. 6 1/2-inch round barrel with brass pin front sight. Top of barrel stamped with single line
Address Col. Saml. Colt New-York U.S. America.
Left side of frame marked "Colts/Patent." Blued, with casehardened frame, hammer, and loading lever, with silver-plated brass gripstraps. The grips of varnished walnut.
Varnished mahogany case, lined in black velvet. Embossed American eagle and shield powder flask, blued steel double cavity bullet mold with 36P marking on one arm, tin of Eley Bros. percussion caps with green paper label, blued L-shaped screwdriver/nipple wrench, two packets of combustible envelope cartridges by Colt's Cartridge Works, miscellaneous round lead projectiles, and small screwdriver with turned wood handle. Wood keyplate inlaid on front of case.

Condition Report*: Excellent to mint. 98% bright blue with minor patina and light storage marks, light tracking lines on cylinder. Vibrant case hardened colors. 75% silver on gripstraps, tarnished. 100% varnish on grips. Case and accessories excellent to mint.
