One quarto page (approximately 11 x 8.5 inches) on white stationery of Kubrick's production company, Polaris Productions. Two horizontal creases, some toning and rubbing to letter, inkstamp and marking to lower right corner of letter. Very good. Addressed to Mr. Thomas Turner, President of the National Space Club. Written by Kubrick during the pre-production phase of 2001: A Space Odyssey. In this letter, he mentions the 1964 science fiction film, Robinson Crusoe on Mars. In this letter, he discusses an idea he has for shooting some sequences on the moon for 2001 (he never explicitly mentions the title of the film, but it is clear what he is referring to). Kubrick also criticizes the lighting of Robinson Crusoe on Mars, but is somewhat understanding about the quality of the film's special effects ("but keep in mind they probably made this picture at a fraction of what I imagine our opus will cost.")
