Complete in three large quarto volumes. xii, 640; x, 632; x, 598 pages plus indices. Fully illustrated "with scientific accuracy": 26 full-color chromolithograph plates (Volume II is missing four of its ten plates), several full-page black and white engravings, and numerous textual engravings.

Original brown cloth with gold and black stamping. All edges gilt. White moiré endpapers. General wear to binding, particularly to joints, spine ends, and corners. Foot of Volume III's spine chipped. Some of the tissue guards protecting the color plates are missing, some are torn. Contents are bright and tight, with color of plates still vivid. A very good set.

Volume I: Mammalia; Volume II: Fishes, Reptiles, &c; and Volume III: Birds.
