Following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968, memorials were held across the country in recognition of the famed civil rights leader's life and work. What follows is a breakdown of the funeral, which occurred that morning and was officiated by Ralph Abernathy, King's closest friend and advisor. A memorial march was planned for directly after: "Martin Luther King Jr. marched for freedom. We march today in grateful recognition of the freedom he has now achieved." That afternoon, a memorial was held on the campus of Morehouse College, also overseen by Rev. Abernathy. Three pages of quotes from Dr. King are found near the back

Also included is a copy of Martin Luther King, Jr., The Journey of a Martyr. New York: Award Books, 1968. 8vo, 62 pages (unpaginated). Printed wraps. Illustrated throughout.
