Waller, Edmund. Poems, &c. Written upon several Occasions, And to several Persons: The Sixth Edition; with several Additions, Never before Printed. Non ego mordaci diftrinxi carmine quenquam, Nulla venenato littera Mista joco est. London: For H. Herringman, 1694. 8vo. A4; B-V8,ยน2; B-H2. [8],299,[5];[4],100p. Contemporary calf, banded spine, blind tooled, cracking hinges. This issue lacks portrait of Van der Banck. "Sixth." This so-called sixth edition consists merely of the unsold copies of the sixth edition of the year previous, to which are added he unsold copies of the sixth edition "the Maid's Tragedy Altered" of 1690. the first title-page has been cancelled and a new one inserted, and two other changes have been made in order to make this volume homogeneous. At the foot of Sig. V6 recto the word "Finis" in the edition of 1693 has been changed to "The End of the First Part", and at the foot of Sig. V8 verso a catch-word has been added. That this edition consists of the unsold sheets of the previous one is proved by the fact that pp. 223 and 253 in both cases have the numbers printed on the wrong sides of the pages.
