Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan and the Foreign Legion. Tarzana, CA: Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., 1947. First edition, first printing, in original illustrated dust jacket. Octavo. 197 x 140 mm. [2], 314 pages + 5 illustrations, including frontispiece. Inscribed by the author to "Don." Publisher's royal blue cloth, boards and spine stamped in brick red. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed, faint scattered staining, head and tail somewhat pushed with some fraying, staining to head and tail, light soiling to lower board, light edgewear. Text block edges toned, top edge stained red, fore-edge untrimmed, inscribed by Burroughs to "Don," on front flyleaf recto, undated. Internally clean and bright. Dust jacket with no price listed, as called for; somewhat soiled, chipping along edges with some losses to bottom of rear flap and head just touching text, verso with scattered staining. Very good book in very good dust jacket.

First edition, first printing of the last Tarzan tale published by ERB, Inc., and the last published in Burroughs' lifetime, inspired by his activities as a war correspondent in the South Pacific during WWII.
